Dr. Hong graduated from the First Military Medical University and learned from Dr. Qian Xuexian, a famous cardiologist. Dr. Hong once worked at Cardiology Department of Zhujiang Hospital of First Military Medical University and Guangzhou General Hospital of Guangzhou Military Area Command of Chinese PLA. He received training of cardiovascular intervention in Zhongshan Hospital of Fudan University and Texas Heart Institute.

As a cardiologist for 30 years, he specializes in coronary heart disease, hypertension, cardiomyopathy, arrhythmia, congenital heart diseases, various types of heart failure, cardiovascular intensive care, and other cardiovascular diseases. He is especially experienced in interventional treatment for coronary heart disease and peripheral vascular diseases, complex and difficult coronary artery lesion. With a high success rate, he has treated over 5000 such cases.

He is a standing member of Whole Military Microangiology Committee, Guangdong Association of the Integrative Traditional and Western Medicine - Coronary Heart Disease Specialty Committee, Guangdong Medical Doctor Association - Interventional Treatment Quality Control Committee, Guangdong Medical Doctor Association-Imaging and Functional Specialty Committee, and Guangdong Cardiac Rehabilitation Association. He has been serving as one of trainers for coronary intervention training base of whole military and National Health and Family Planning Commission since 2009. He has published over 20 papers in core journals and edited and co-edited 7 monographs.
