Dr. Pu Miaoshui is the former director of General Surgery Dept. and Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery Dept. of General Hospital of Guangzhou Military Command of PLA. He is a member of Chinese Medical Association - Guangdong Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery Association and Society of Liver Cancer and the standing member of Guangdong Medical Doctor Association -Pancreatic Surgery Association.

Dr. Pu has been practicing as a surgeon for 30 years in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic and Gastrointestinal Surgery. He is competent in diagnosis and treatment of diseases involving liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, stomach and intestine. He specializes in surgery, intervention, and ablation for gallstone diseases, liver cancer, pancreatic cancer, bile duct cancer and gastrointestinal tumor, especially surgery for complicated biliary duct stone, pancreatic tumor, giant liver cancer and giant retroperitoneal tumor resection. He has performed a large number of pancreatic tumor resection or pancreaticoduodenectomy. He invented a simple procedure called “snap-in pancreatic anastomosis” which is characterized by easiness to perform, very low risk of pancreatic leakage and hemorrhage, short length of stay, and easy application in primary care facilities.

By working with ICU, Gastroenterology, Ultrasound and Anaesthesiology, he treats acute and critical pancreatitis and its complications like retroperitoneal abscess by integrative medicinal treatment and minimally invasive procedures like ultrasound-guided catheterization, retroperitoneal drainage via small incision, and directional catheter drainage, which have achieved effective results.

Dr. Pu has compiled care protocols for hepatic, biliary, splenic, and pancreatic diseases and for liver transplant which have been adopted by several organizations. He has also published more than 30 papers and co-edited 3 monographs.
