Huge Uterine Fibroid Complicated with Pregnancy

Ms. Li, 34 years old, was hospitalized for 37 weeks and 5 days of pregnancy and huge myoma of cervix. Low segment Cesarean section and excision of cervical myoma were performed on her. During the procedure, the baby, fetal membrane and placenta were delivered successfully. And a huge fibroid measuring about 13*10*6 cm was removed later. A week after the operation, the mother was healed and get discharged. 

Comment: 

Uterine fibroid, also called leiomyoma or myoma, is noncancerous tumor of the uterus that often appear in women between 30-50 years old. In this case, the uterine fibroid was huge and appeared in the cervix, which was an obstacle for fetal to pass through the birth canal. Besides, it had risk to cause uterine rupture. So, C-section and excision of fibroid were performed together by experienced surgeon.
